Digital Marketing in the Post-Pandemic Era
We’re nowhere near the end of the coronavirus pandemic, but savvy digital marketers are already planning how they will market in the years that follow the disaster that was COVID-19. After all, the fastest way to alienate the people marketers hope to impact is with out-of-touch marketing or tone-deaf messaging. According to Forbes, digital marketers should focus on the following:
- Stick with messaging that preaches togetherness: The pandemic showed us that we’re all connected. Work on messaging that is true to your brand while also embracing community.
- Content is still king: Internet usage is up by 50 to 70 percent. Therefore, it seems like a no-brainer that marketing strategies should center on using content to create powerful online connections. By speaking to your consumers’ concerns and humanizing your brand in the process, you can nurture an ongoing conversation, even among those who are in precarious financial situations or juggling multiple responsibilities. Overall, aim for authenticity and value.
- Focus on organic content: as more and more people up their screen time, brands need to revisit their approach to organic traffic – and this is going to take some research. Specifically, you’ll need to realign your benchmarks to match your industry’s new “normal.” The easiest and fastest way to boost organic traffic is to provide relevant content. When people are unable to or don’t feel safe browsing brick-and-mortar stores to test out products, they need to build trust in other ways. Updating your homepage or storefront, as well as quickly answering questions and proactively creating content that addresses concerns, can go a long way toward establishing and maintaining trust.
