It’s that time of the year again!
Holiday shopping is in full swing! According to an eMarketer report, customers are expected to spend more this year, with retail sales increasing by 4.1 percent in the United States, and online shopping increasing by 16.2 percent, thanks to the strong economy. As a result, retailers have never been more prepared for the holiday shopping season than in 2018.
In recent years, we’ve seen less foot traffic in the stores due to the convenience of online shopping. However, Forbes suggests that brick-and-mortar stores use this holiday season to bring some excitement back to shopping in-store. In fact, 51 percent of millennials will be shopping in brick-and-mortar stores, according to a Heartbeat Survey. As an incentive, retailers can provide free services like gift wrapping and entertainment.
But online shopping isn’t going away anytime soon. In fact, mobile shopping makes up 44 percent of online holiday shopping and has increased by 32.6 percent. Furthermore, almost all millennials have shopped for gifts on their mobile devices – 89 percent to be exact.
