Social media is not going anywhere, and Apple confirmed this last week by announcing 2018’s most downloaded iOS apps. The top five most popular apps among iPhone users are:
1. YouTube
2. Instagram
3. Snapchat
4. Messenger
5. Facebook
Once again, Apple’s list proves that social media is here to stay.
Bitmoji, an app owned by Snapchat, took a dive to sixth place, despite holding the number one spot in 2017, with the Snapchat app itself coming in second. Despite the backlash from users regarding an app redesign, Snapchat still managed to crack the top three this year.
Additionally, Facebook’s controversies, including the Cambridge Analytica scandal, made users leery of the company. However, the app remains in the top five, as well as Facebook-owned apps – Instagram and Messenger.
