With locations in 41 countries across the Americas, Europe, Australia, and Asia, we are happy to announce our continued expansion into Latin America with the complete acquisition of Sapia, a technology company founded in 1984 in Peru as Cosapi Data.
After being acquired in 2013 by Altra Investments, Sapia changed its name and repositioned itself as one of the main players in digital transformation in Peru. The acquisition decision made by the Stefanini Group, considered one of the most internationalized companies in Latin America and a successful case of digital transformation by the French business school Insead, shows our ambition for investments in the region. Over the past two years, Stefanini LATAM has registered a growth of around 30 percent per year.
“Stefanini has been present in the Peruvian market for over 20 years,” said Damián Méndez, CEO of Stefanini Latam. “With this acquisition, we have reinforced our confidence in Peru and consolidated our position as one of the main partners in digital transformation. The Stefanini Group’s financial strength and experience in the global market will enable it to boost new business throughout the region and guarantee Sapia’s current 180 customers access to a broader range of offers that meet their main end-to-end needs. Additionally, the possibility of rollout in operations will bring more efficiency and competitiveness to the business.”
The Presence of Stefanini LATAM
Our Latin American operation have more than 4,000 employees and more than 280 active customers. In addition to Peru, we are present in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Uruguay, El Salvador, Panama, and Honduras. We provide on-site services in local markets and serve other regions, promoting Latin American technological talent in the process.
We have a strong presence in the financial, technology, telecommunications, services, manufacturing, and healthcare sectors. When it comes to our total number of customers in the region, more than 60 percent are multinational, 57 percent have more than 10,000 employees, and 55 percent have revenues above $1 billion.
“With the acquisition of Sapia, we are certain that we will act in synergy with its customers to offer customized solutions and more value-added offers to further expand their business,” added Jaime Mourão, country manager at Stefanini Peru.
Our digital transformation project was first reinforced six years ago through a series of acquisitions in different business vertical. Throughout 2020, these acquisitions showed that we were prepared to support the needs of customers and the market amid the challenges imposed by COVID -19.
According to Marco Stefanini, our founder and global CEO, the pandemic ended up accelerating the process of digital transformation that many companies had already started.
“With our expertise in digital solutions and several market recognitions as an innovational company, we won our biggest contract in the United States and ended the year with a 20 percent growth in global sales,” Marco said.
Just last year, we acquired six companies in Brazil in the areas of analytics, banking, digital marketing, and retail, as well as a cybersecurity company in Romania. Sapia is our second acquisition in 2021 and probably won’t be the last.
“We are evaluating other opportunities in Brazil and abroad, with great chances of keeping our M&A project at full steam,” Marco concluded.
