Carlos Martins joined Stefanini back in 2019, after hearing positive reports about the business from former colleagues who had also joined the company.
We caught up with Carlos to discuss his experience at Stefanini, including the chance to develop his knowledge of the fintech sector, the importance of collaboration and why individual success depends on the overall performance of the team.
This is the fourth interview in our new series involving our Digital Workplace Services (DWS) colleagues. DWS spans multiple roles and skillsets, with team members able to meet customers’ changing needs. These range from traditional Service Desk and Field Service to modern infrastructure capabilities, including cloud, virtualization, platforms and applications. This series explores the career journeys, best practices and learnings of DWS colleagues across EMEA and showcases what life at Stefanini involves.
Why did you choose to join Stefanini?
I applied for a role here after speaking to some former colleagues of mine who had moved to Stefanini and told me they’d had a really positive experience at the company. I also knew about Stefanini’s global presence and was excited to join a business that was clearly ambitious and dedicated to expanding.
How have you evolved professionally within the company so far?
Stefanini has given me the opportunity to gain fintech experience and develop my knowledge in a completely new field. I've always been really interested in the fintech sector and it’s been great to build my experience and learn about how businesses operate within such a complex environment.
What are the most important things that you have learned here?
Working closely with colleagues in the UK and overseas has taught me how to collaborate effectively with different teams remotely, as well as how to provide a great service to very different audiences. Providing support to people based overseas has been really interesting and a great way to develop a range of skills. Working here has really underlined the value of teamwork, which I’ve come to truly appreciate because of the support I get from my peers locally, as well as teams based abroad.
What are some best practices learned and applied in your current role?
Time management is essential. Once we’re clear on how much time tasks will take and what else is likely to come up during the working day, we can easily direct our focus towards what’s really important.
What do you like most about working at Stefanini?
You’ll always feel supported at Stefanini. Everyone knows that they can always ask for help when dealing with unknown situations and that this support is always very readily provided.
What advice would you give to a new Stefanini employee?
I’d advise new employees to remember that they can always ask for help from their supervisor. They will always help and guide you on the best approach to tackle any issues you’re facing.
What advice would you give to other Stefanini colleagues when it comes to building a success story here?
It’s important to be passionate about your work and to recognize that your success is related to the success of the people around you. Develop your understanding of how best you can support your team, because you cannot be successful on your own. Success depends on your performance as a team.
Also, be an inspiration and a role model for all your colleagues.
