Revolutionize Railway And Underground Infrastructure Maintenance
Software Verticalization For The Maintenance Of Railway And Underground Systems
We enable efficient complex transportation infrastructure maintenance by integrating control and field systems. Over 10 years of experience in the Underground and Railway maintenance sector.
The Subdivision of Maintenance into its Main Types
It is a well-known fact that underground and railway systems require specific attention to be paid to maintenance, both in terms of their use by users, as well as regards the importance of safety in every phase of operation and the provision of services. To delve further into the importance of the sector, it is first necessary to divide the maintenance into 3 main blocks:
- Scheduled maintenance
This takes into account the life cycle of any type of product or component. Also defined as routine maintenance, it refers to all the sets of operations necessary to keep a product or component in its original operating condition. The structuring of the data in scheduled maintenance allows periodic controls, overhauls or replacements of components susceptible to wear to be organized easily, preventing or minimizing potential accidents or service interruptions caused by malfunctions.
- Intervention maintenance
This is extraordinary maintenance that is performed in the event of a malfunction or breakage of one or more components that come into play in the workflow of a system.
- Predictive maintenance
This is a type of preventive maintenance that can be carried out following an analysis of a number of parameters that have been identified and measured. The mathematical processing of this data results in a report that provides an opportunity to identify the residual time factor before the occurrence of a failure.
Various parameters and methods of analysis can be used to achieve this level of maintenance applications, such as analyses relating to lubricants and absorbed currents, as well as the measurement of actual and anomalous vibrations, etc. Historical data compared with significant variations in the starting parameters therefore becomes an indicator of deterioration and wear, a leading factor in predicting the moment of “failure”.
Software Development for Increased Performance
If well organized by a system, the three types of maintenance listed work together, increasing the performance of all operational aspects of the system in question. After over 10 years of application experience in the sector, we create a data collection and analysis flow that is used for the correct and complete configuration of the entire maintenance system. The problem of complications that may occur in the use of a software is therefore resolved by the initial configuration, which puts the company in a position to use it to its full potential. The user will thereby possess a useful tool with which to intervene quickly on all railway maintenance operations.
The solution has the peculiarity of being able to be interfaced with field systems, i.e. the subsets of component and product technologies present in the eco system operating the service, such as fire alarm sensors or closed-circuit video surveillance cameras or even elevators and escalators. A more operational example would be the hypothesis of railway/underground service consisting of more than 20 stations in which each component of a subset sends operating data to the software, which continuously analyzes it. In the event of a hypothetical breakdown of, for example, an elevator, the maintenance service can quickly know which system in the 20 stations has failed and can intervene quickly, minimizing service interruptions and ensuring the safety of the service’s end users.
Thanks to the development of a specific competence in the creation of maintenance systems in the underground and railway sector, we can successfully manage the two main design phases that typify this type of intervention:
- System Configuration
- The methods and solutions designed effectively support the standards, technologies and dynamics of the information. Stefanini methodology for the collection and validation of the configuration can be used effectively to improve the quality of the data and make the information managed more effective and standardized.
- Maintenance Systems
- Key information managed:
- System configuration modeling;
- Automatic generation of the objects maintained;
- Homogenization of spare parts;
- Standardization of maintenance procedures;
- Homogenization of the integration of monitoring and control systems.
The development of the software provided has not halted and requires Stefanini to continuous monitor daily operations by the end users, which allows the identification of changes and additions of functions, orienting the software towards a state of continuous evolution and elevating the level of assistance to the highest possible level for the Client user. A continuous analysis that leads to operational development, allows you to change and adapt the entire software system to any business change to always have a product in line with the real needs that occur, or will verify over time.
It is an international project that has already been used in foreign markets and the methodology that has been acquired, precisely because of its versatility and the continuous updating to which it is subjected, can be applied to various product sectors or market segments. The main current projects concern the railway line for Etihad in Abu Dhabi for ASTS/Saipem and the Riyadh underground line 3 for ASTS.
