Angelica Molocea joined Stefanini back in 2013, applying for a role that would give her the opportunity to make use of her language skills, develop her IT knowledge and collaborate with colleagues internationally.
Having been promoted multiple times, Angelica returned from maternity leave to advance from a Senior Support Engineer role to a Technical Training Specialist position, before being appointed to her current role as a Technical Training Expert.
We caught up with Angelica to discuss her experience at Stefanini, including the value of teamwork and international collaboration, as well as the importance of seeking out opportunities, being open to change and being prepared to grow.
This is the fifth interview in our series involving our Digital Workplace Services (DWS) colleagues. DWS spans multiple roles and skillsets, with team members able to meet customers’ changing needs. These range from traditional Service Desk and Field Service to modern infrastructure capabilities, including cloud, virtualization, platforms and applications. Why did you choose to join Stefanini?
Joining Stefanini seemed like a great opportunity to make use of the languages that I had studied, as well as a chance to gain additional IT knowledge and experience. The thought of working in a big multinational company with people from different cultures and backgrounds was also a big plus and prompted me to apply for a role here.
How have you evolved professionally within the company so far?
Working within Stefanini offered me the chance to constantly learn and this helped me to develop very fast. I became more self-confident and eager to prove to myself that I could do a good job, even during periods of change or when needing to learn about new ways of working. Moreover, the people I worked with empowered me all the way and encouraged me to push my own limits.
In terms of my career path, I’ve always had the opportunity to grow, as my efforts are valued and I’ve constantly had the chance to advance my career by applying to new roles within the company.
I started as a Support Engineer before becoming a WebStore Support Specialist, which meant taking on additional responsibilities. I later became a Senior Support Engineer, while retaining my WebStore Support Specialist responsibilities, which also helped me to start working on becoming a Technical Trainer. Even though I wasn’t in a Trainer role, I was always supported when it came to enrolling on specific courses and Trainer apprenticeships in order to prepare for such a role.
After my maternity leave, I returned to the company as a Senior Support Engineer, and in one year I joined the Technical Training team, which paved the way for what I like the most: learning and sharing my knowledge with the others.
Having gone through all the steps to move into a Trainer role, I am now a Technical Training Expert, which is giving me the chance to find solutions for the entire team, coordinate team members who are my direct reports, and share my experience and knowledge. I am also working together with other colleagues on using new tools and best business practices for creating online content, which is part of our digital transformation process that applies to training.
What are the most important things that you have learned here?
The most important things that I learned here are that people are the most important part of a business and that we only achieve great results by supporting each other.
Even though each of us will have a variety of individual tasks, the team’s effort is what is really important. Each person’s individual contribution, even if that’s just sharing some information with a colleague, can make a big overall difference to a great team result.
I’ve also learned that we never stop learning. All you need is a bit of curiosity and will to become more knowledgeable and more empowered to take charge of your own results.
What are some best practices you have learned and applied in your current role?
Since I joined Stefanini, I’ve learned that there are some unwritten best practices that we need to pay attention to. This includes showing respect for your colleagues and getting to know them better, especially when they might be experiencing some difficulties dealing with their tasks. It’s important to always remember how you felt when you first joined the company and to encourage your colleagues whenever this is needed.
Some best practices more strictly tied to my current role include: relentlessly search for solutions when encountering challenges, be constantly open to change and seek out opportunities to enhance your own development.
What do you like most about working at Stefanini?
What I like most about working at Stefanini is that I’m part of a great team and have the chance to learn new things every day.
I also like the fact that over the years I’ve seen the entire company evolving, transforming, and making efforts to become an even better workplace for employees.
What advice would you give to a new Stefanini employee?
You should ensure you give yourself the chance to really understand the company and your role, explore new opportunities and try to see beyond each day’s challenges.
What advice would you give to other Stefanini colleagues when it comes to building a success story here?
- Try to do a great job every day;
- Seek new opportunities and stay informed about other roles and responsibilities so that you can identify areas within the company where you would like to work in the future;
- Prepare before interviews and engage with everyone who might support your preparation;
- Talk to more experienced people that may give you new perspectives and a better understanding about the working environment and procedures;
- Don’t stop being curious and eager to learn.
